Gary M. Stern has been the General Counsel of the National Archives and Records
Administration since 1998, and is a career member of the Senior Executive Service. Mr.
Stern also serves as NARA’s Chief Freedom of Information Act Officer, Senior Agency
Official for Privacy, Senior Agency Official for Controlled Unclassified Information and
Dispute Resolution Specialist.
In this talk Mr. Stern promises to share with us his personal insights on presidential
record controversies, starting from the last days of the Reagan Administration up to the
latest events of the Trump Administration that we have been witnessing in real time.
